Few centers in China provide such breadth of expertise and services.   The department director, Prof. Wang Wenming has accumulated more than 20 years of experience caring for patients with vascular diseases and tumor diseases. Our nurses, technicians and administrative staff are committed to facilitating assessment and care through our clinical and diagnostic services as well as in-hospital services, treatment and research. For patients, this translates into a comprehensive eva luation culminating in an integrated care plan including medical therapies with minimally-invasive “endovascular or interventional” procedures or traditional open surgery when indicated, for the broad spectrum of vascular diseases and tumor disease.   Our department also offers a state-of-the-art interventional program to manage such tumor diseases as liver cancer, lung cancer, etc. The field of interventional oncology was pioneered in this region by chemo-embolization procedure and radiofrequency ablation (RFA).   We have made some progress in the innovation and development of the minimally invasive procedures which constitutes the basis of vascular intervention for the treatment of vascular and tumor diseases. We are able to conduct minimally invasive image-guided diagnosis and treatment of diseases in many organ systems. These procedures are usually performed with needles and narrow tubes called catheters, rather than by making large incisions into the body as in traditional surgery. So many conditions that once required open surgery can now be treated non-surgically by interventional procedures through a small incision in the skin. Interventionalists guide tiny catheters and miniature instruments to run through a patient’s network of arteries to treat different diseases. While no treatment is risk free, the risks of interventional procedures are far lower than those of open surgery. By minimizing the physical trauma to the patient, non-surgical interventions can reduce infection rate, recovery time, and shorten hospital stays as well.   The main procedures we have performed are as fellows. 1. Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) open aortic surgery&endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) 2.
